Flashback Friday #24: Random Stamped Backgrounds

Christmas Scrapbook Pages with Random Stamping

Winter 3a

Welcome to Flashback Friday! I just love random stamping on crisp white cardstock! The page above was made about 10 years ago, when CTMH still had wood and rubber stamps (that would explain the crooked images that were hard to line up!). I created this page when I was still brand new to rubber stamping (can you tell… LOL!). I couldn’t believe that I was able to make my own patterned background paper.

Winter 5a

A lot of the imperfections in the stamping could be covered up with strategically placed papers. The pages above and below are ready for pictures and journaling!

Here is the original stamp set used on the random stamped backgrounds:

Winter 4a

Here is another stamp set, inks, and papers that I used for random stamping. These pages were still in a winter theme, but had a totally different look.

Do you use your stamps to make your own background papers? Just think off all of the possibilities!

Flashback Friday #23: Christmas Cards

Random Stamped Christmas Cards

Christmas cards 1a.jpg

Welcome to Flashback Friday! Today I have a bunch of Christmas cards that I made many years ago, using the stamped background technique. Basically, I took a sheet of white 12″ x 12″ cardstock and random stamped  designs all over the entire sheet, using different stamps and colors.

Then, I cut the sheet into different segments, so that I would have a strip of the random stamped paper to use on each of my Christmas cards. By adding some Cranberry, New England Ivy, and Goldrush papers, with a few embellishments, I was able to get 14 card designs out of the one sheet of paper.

Here are my top 3 picks from this set:

Flashback Friday #22: ‘Tis the Season

‘Tis the Season

Tis the Season FF 1a.jpg

Welcome to Flashback Friday! In the spirit of super simple holiday cards, I have a flashback card that I made a long time ago that required no stamping.

Tis the Season FF 2a.jpg

The ‘Tis the Season card was made with patterned papers and punch-out shapes from Close To My Heart. Every product on this card is now retired, with the exception of the New England Ivy (green) background cardstock. The other featured color was Holiday Red.

Tis the Season FF 3a.jpg

I absolutely LOVE how CTMH paper has a white core! The red cardstock above was simply torn down the length of the card to expose the white core and add some extra color and dimension to the card. The “Tis the Season” sentiment was cut out individually and mounted onto cardstock.

The beautiful red string was called “Waxy Flax” and came in a variety of coordinating colors to match the CTMH color palette. This product used to be a favorite of mine. I still have a tiny bit left in select colors, so I use it sparingly these days!

I’ll see you in the craft room,

Flashback Friday #21: ‘Tis the Season Card

‘Tis the Season Card

Tis the season 1a.jpg

Welcome to Flashback Friday! Today I have a card that I made many years ago, and was one of my most popular display items for a while. The “Tis the Season 6″ x 6” card was made with the Contemporary Christmas paper packet and the “Tis the Season stamp set (which I have in a wooden block and rubber set!).

This card included many different layers of paper piecing and distressed and torn edges. The trees and background were stamped to resemble a snowy Christmas scene.

The card opening was tied together with Waxy Flax string (a retired item from CTMH) and a cute matching button. The color palette for this card included: New England Ivy, Holiday Red (retired), and White Daisy.

Amazingly, I still have 2 brand new packets of this festive paper, that are for sale in my Etsy shop. The Contemporary Christmas paper includes 14 sheets of exclusive patterned papers and cardstock, and is available here if you would like to check it out.

I’ll see you in the craft room,

Flashback Friday #19: Halloween 2005

CTMH Halloween “Spooktacular”

Halloween 2205 1a.jpg

Happy Halloween and welcome to Flashback Friday! Since it’s Halloween today, then it’s only fitting to showcase a flashback Halloween project! These retired papers and stickers, called “Spooktacular” were from 2005. The color palette included: Black, Olive, Sunflower (retired), and Pansy (retired).

The Halloween stickers were originally included with this kit, and the vellum sentiment stickers were an add-on item.

This layout used a retired Halloween stamp set for the background. The pumpkins were randomly stamped on the Pansy purple cardstock to create a fun and interesting background. The “Boo” vellum sentiment stickers were added along the bottom for a unique border.

I hope that you enjoyed a flashback look at some retired CTMH Halloween products. Have a “spooktacular” evening!

Flashback Friday #18: Close To My Heart Catalogs

Close To My Heart Catalogs Flashback

close to my heart ctmh catalogs

Welcome to Flashback Friday! Today, we are going to take a quick peek at some of the Close To My Heart Catalogs throughout the years. If you have been following Close To My Heart for a while now, you may recall that before CTMH added scrapbooking supplies to our incredible line of custom stamps, there was a sole focus on rubber stamps. At that time, they were called “D.O.T.S.” – which stood for “Dozens of Terrific Stamps.”

I don’t have a D.O.T.S. catalog to share because I was not with the company at that time. I originally joined CTMH in 2003, and the first catalog pictured above (on the left) is the very first CTMH catalog I ever owned.

Let’s have a quick look at how the catalogs have evolved over the past 10 years, and then I have a little surprise…

The first catalog on the left is the CTMH 2003-2004 Idea Book. It was released yearly, and was the largest (size-wise) of all of our catalogs, measuring 11″ x 11.”

The next catalog is from 2005, when CTMH switched to a smaller, seasonal catalog. This catalog was released twice per year: Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. It’s smaller size of 10″ x 10″ was easier to flip through.

The next catalog is from 2011. I’m not sure of the exact date that CTMH switched to this catalog size and type, as I had taken a little break from being a CTMH consultant for a few years while I was attending nursing school. This is the first catalog that I had of this type… it was also released twice per year and was 10.5″ x 9″ in size.

close to my heart ctmh annual inspirations catalog 2014/15

The last catalog shown is the most current catalog, the 2014/15 Annual Inspirations Idea Book. And, as you can see, the format for this catalog has also changed! This large (190+ pages!) catalog has changed to a 11″ x 8.5″ size, which makes it very easy to manage! This catalog has now gone back to the yearly format. BUT, to keep things fresh all year, there will also be 2 seasonal catalog supplements (mini catalogs) released throughout the life of this catalog! Would you like a sneak peak of the cover of the new catalog? Here it is…

close to my heart ctmh seasonal expressions 1 december 2014

The first “Seasonal Expressions” catalog will be released on December 1, 2014 and run until March 31, 2015. The second “Seasonal Expressions” catalog will be available from April 1, 2015 to July 31, 2015, just in time for the new 2015/2016 Annual Inspirations yearly catalog to be released! All of the products in the catalog shown above will be available on December 1st and will focus on Valentine’s Day and Easter/Spring (we are always working 2 months ahead of the holidays, so that you can get your projects done in advance!). Stay tuned for more information about the new products, coming soon!
