Relax Card

CTMH No Worries

Ah, the lazy days of summer! Here in Southern California we are blessed with warm evenings, cool ocean breezes, and plenty of sand and palm trees. The “Relax” card was inspired by just that… sand, surf, and summer. Made with the No Worries Paper Packet from Close To My Heart, the beautiful blues, greens, and browns of these papers are perfect for summer or vacation cards, scrapbook pages, or paper projects.

I used White Daisy cardstock (included in the packet), and cut it into a standard 5.5″ x 4.25″ card base. The patterned paper for the top portion of the card (palm trees) was cut 5.5″ x 1.5″, and the bottom paper (blue waves) was cut 5.5″ x 2.5″. A small 5.5″ x 1.5″ strip of tan patterned paper was cut to separate the top from bottom.

CTMH No Worries

I cut the “Relax” sentiment from one of the patterned cardstock sheets, and attached it with 3D foam tape.

CTMH No Worries

The palm tree circles were also cut from one of the pieces of patterned paper, and cut with a 1″ circle punch. To make them pop, I distressed around the edges, exposing the white paper core. The bottom circle was adhered directly to the paper, and the top circle is mounted on 3D foam tape. I took 3 small strips of patterned paper and dove-tailed them to finish off the card.

Axing for Trouble Card

CTMH Jack Paper Packet card

As a card maker, I always lean towards colorful, glittery, feminine cards that are full of bling. But, we can’t forget about the men in our lives. So, today, I would like to share a masculine card! The “Axing for Trouble” card was made with the Jack Paper Packet from Close To My Heart.

I used White Daisy cardstock (included in the packet), and cut it into a standard 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base. The patterned paper for the top portion of the card (lumberjack paper) was cut 4.25″ x 2.5″, and the bottom paper (black wood cord) was cut 4.25″ x 3″. A small 4.25″ x 0.5″ strip of plaid paper was cut to separate the top from bottom.

Before attaching the bottom patterned paper, I cut out the “Axing for Trouble” sentiment and adhered it to the card base. I lined up where I wanted the sentiment to peek through before gluing it down. I cut a hole in the black wood cord paper approximately where the middle of the sentiment lined up, and then ripped the paper on top of the sentiment, exposing all of the words. I like that the exposed white paper inside of the black gave it a look similar to the rings on cut wood.

To finish off the card, I added a little bling. And if it feels like you are being watched, blame it on the small bling eyes that I added to one of the lumberjacks.

Thanks for joining me today.

January SOTM Valentine Card

I love Valentine’s Day! Not only is Valentine’s Day one big love-fest with pretty hearts, chocolates, and flowers, BUT… it’s also my birthday! I am always excited to see the new Close To My Heart Valentine’s stamp set that comes out every January, and this year did not disappoint.

The January Stamp of the Month (SOTM) set this year is called Adore You, and features 12 stamps. To see some CTMH corporate artwork with this set, see my post here.

Today, I am featuring the first project that I made with the set, Be mine, Valentine.

CTMH January SOTM Valentine Card

I made this card with a standard 4.25″ x 5.5″ white card base, and papers from the Sugar Rush Paper Packet. The papers from this packet contain beautiful pinks and reds, but also some very colorful pages featuring sweet treats, such as donuts, sprinkles, and popsicles.

CTMH January SOTM Valentine Card

I stamped the heart from the Adore You set onto the pink patterned paper in black ink. The flowers were hand-colored with colored pencils. The “Be Mine” sentiment was stamped in Pomegranate ink.

CTMH January SOTM Valentine Card

I attached the heart with foam tape to make it pop off the card, and then added 3 Sugar Rush Dots for some sparkle. This card was simple to put together, so go ahead and make multiple for Valentine’s Day!
