Fall Leaf Pillow Box

ctmh fall pillow box

Today I have a super easy project for you! I used my Cricut machine and the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to mass cut several pillow box shapes for my upcoming craft fair. If you don’t have that cartridge, you could probably find a template for a simple pillow box online.

Using Kraft cardstock, I cut the boxes at a 4″ height, which made them quite small when folded over. Before cutting, I found an image of a leaf that I liked from the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge. I simply placed the leaf image in the center of the pillow box front and welded them together. That way, when the pillow box was cut, the leaf image was cut out with it.

I glued a small, clear bag to the inside front of the box (covering the leaf opening) before assembly. Then I assembled the box, and used the cut out leaf as my tag. The leaf was sponged around the edges with Desert Sand Ink and the sentiment was stamped in Cocoa Ink.

Before closing the final flap of the box, I filled the small baggie with M&Ms and stapled it shut.

The tag was attached with some gorgeous fall-colored string that I had from my retired CTMH stash. A craft fair is a great way to use up older products!

Everywhere You Go Tag

December SOTM: Cutie Pie

Everywhere you go 3a.jpg

I can’t get enough of the adorable cupcakes in the December Stamp of the Month set, ‘Cutie Pie’! I tried something a little different today, using summer colors and a small tag, rather than a card.

The tag was cut with my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and then covered in patterned papers from the Seaside Paper Packet.

The cupcake and sentiment were stamped with Desert Sand ink, colored in with colored pencils, and mounted onto Desert Sand cardstock. The sentiment was popped off the page with foam tape.

I added gold sequins and bitty sparkles for some bling!

Mini Calendar Tag

Art Philosophy Cut Mini Calendar Tag

Calendar Tag 1a.jpg

This adorable Mini Calendar stamp can be used for so many things! It is completely customizable and reusable for ANY date. Plus, at only $2.95, it’s a total bargain!

For the tag, I used the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut a 3.5″ tag out of White Daisy cardstock. All of the patterned paper was from the Brushed Paper Packet. In addition to the Mini Calendar stamp, I used “A Budding Friendship” stamp set to stamp the flower in Hollyhock ink and the leaf in Pear ink.

I used the ShinHan Touchtwin Marker in Marigold color to circle today’s date. To finish off the tag, I added 3 Clear Sparkles and Pink Shimmer Trim, cut in half lengthwise.

October SOTM Christmas Present Card

Christmas Present Card

Do Not Open 2a.jpg

Do you own the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Collection? If you do, you will be able to make this quick little card in a snap! Turn to Page 60 in your booklet and let’s get started…

Art Philosophy - Present 2

To make the “Do Not Open” Christmas present Card:

  1. This is a picture of the assembled cuts.
  2. Arrange 2 – 5.5″ presents side-by-side on your Cricut mat, so that the edges are touching at the top of the present (the “lid”). Choose the “weld” function so that the 2 items become 1 when cut. Cut out the image.
  3. Keeping your height at 5.5″, cut the bow.

For my card, I used patterned paper from the Yuletide Carol Paper Packet for the present base, and Cranberry cardstock for the bow. To add a bit of depth and color to the card, I used a sponge dauber to sponge Champagne ink around the edges of the Yuletide Carol paper, and Cranberry ink around the edges and centers of the bow.

Do Not Open 3a.jpg

The  “Do Not Open” sentiment was stamped in Cranberry ink onto White Daisy cardstock. The stamp was from the October SOTM (Stamp of the Month) set, “Home for the Holidays,” which is only available until October 31st!

The tag was also cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge… the cutting size to match the stamp was printed right on the carrier sheet of the stamp set. Many of the CTMH stamps are Cricut compatible and all matching cutting sizes are listed next to the stamp for convenience. Once the tag was cut, all I had to do was line up my sentiment and stamp it!

I used a black journaling pen to make some dots and dashes around the present and bow for some extra interest. To finish off the card, I added 2 Gold Sequins to the bottom of the bow, and a piece of red stretchy cord through my sentiment tag… the exact same cord that I use on my actual Christmas presents! The cord was just tied through the tag and not glued down, as I used foam tape on the back of the tag to pop it off the present and attach it to the card.

I can also envision making smaller versions of these presents (without the card back welded on) to use as tags for Christmas presents this year. How cute!

October SOTM Christmas Tags

close to my heart ctmh october stamp of the month

I have a super quick and easy project for you today! Christmas is right around the corner, and Close To My Heart is featuring a special Holiday/Christmas stamp set for the month of October only. For the Christmas tags here, I used the October “Home for the Holidays” SOTM set and White Daisy cardstock.

I used the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the coordinating tags for these stamps (the cut sizes are listed right on the stamp set, next to the coordinating images!). After the tags were cut, I simply stamped the images on top, using Cranberry, New England Ivy, and Goldrush inks! A quick 10 – 15 minute project to get a jump on your Christmas tags.

Halloween Boo Tag

Boo Tag 1a.jpg

These little ghosts are too cute to spook! I am loving this cute CTMH stamp set called “Frightfully Fun,” with adorable Halloween characters. I’ll definitely be sharing more of this set as the month goes along.

This tag was cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge and White Daisy cardstock. The festive patterned paper is from the Scaredy Cat Paper Packet, and the purple cardstock is a brand new color… Thistle.

Boo Tag 2a.jpg

The 2 ghosts and “BOO!” sentiment were stamped in Black ink and fussy cut so that I could layer them. The bottom ghost was glued right on to the paper, and the top ghost was attached with foam tape for a nice pop off the tag.

For some extra dimension, I added some sparkly Black Shimmer Trim and a couple of Black Enamel Stars, found in the Scaredy Cat Assortment pack. To finish off the tag, I added a strip of Thistle Diagonal Striped Ribbon through the top of the tag. This tag would be great attached to the front of a card base, on a scrapbook page, or as an actual gift tag on a present.

Live in the Moment Tag

Live in the moment tag 1a.JPG

Here is another artsy project that we made at the CTMH annual convention this past June. This cute little tag was made with the Pathfinding Paper Packet and the “Lifetime of Happiness” stamp set.  This tag was super easy to put together since the tag itself was already cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

Live in the moment tag 2a.JPG

The bow and flower petals were stamped with Glacier ink, the flower center and sentiment were stamped with Chocolate ink, and the leaves were stamped with Flaxen ink. A piece of Gold Shimmer Trim was added for some sparkle!

Live in the moment tag 3a.JPG

I wanted to get a picture showing all of the layers of this tag. The foam tape popped the bow, flower leaves, and flower center off of the papers separately, giving it a 3-D look. Although it was quick and easy to make, the dimension gives it a dramatic look!
