Halloween Pencil Case and Bookmarks

CTMH Halloween Pencil Case and Bookmarks

Just a few more days until Halloween, and I have a couple of ideas for teacher gifts, classroom gifts, or small items to put in those candy bags when the kids come a knocking! These are a few more items for my craft fair.

The first is a Halloween pencil case. I found the template to make these cases here. The instructions are simple, allowing you to make 4 boxes from one sheet of 12″ x 12″ paper, and they are so accurate, that 4 pencils fit snugly inside!

CTMH Halloween Pencil Case and Bookmarks

I created all of my pencil boxes with Goldrush Cardstock and pieces of patterned retired Halloween papers. I used a Dollar Store ribbon with a spider web design and adhered it around the boxes. Each box was filled with 4 Halloween-themed pencils, and then 1 eraser was added to the bottom of each package.

I tied Thistle ribbon around the top, and then added a tag tied with Hydrangea waxy flax (both retired… I told you that I use up my older supplies for craft fair items!). The tag sentiment was from the Sweet Salutations stamp set, stamped in Goldrush ink, and punched out with a 1.5″ scallop punch.

CTMH Halloween Pencil Case and Bookmarks

These quick and easy bookmarks were stamped from retired stamp sets onto White Daisy cardstock, and mounted onto Goldrush cardstock. They were laminated, hole-punched, and then had a matching ribbon tied through the tops.

I will be linking these projects to the Heart 2 Heart Challenges: Boo! challenge.

Base and Bling Inspirational Key Chains

CTMH Base and Bling Key Chians

Here is another item for my upcoming craft fair… Base and Bling inspirational key chains! If you are familiar with the Close To My Heart Base and Bling line, then you will probably know it best as DIY necklaces. Well, a few weeks ago, I saw that a consultant had turned a couple of her items into key chains (sorry, I forgot who I got this idea from!).

These are very easy to make, and I did them all assembly line style. Here are the quick and easy steps…

  1. Select your Pendant. I used the Faux Silver Rectangle Pendant and the Faux Silver Oval Pendant.
  2. Select your image. I used inspirational images from the Journey Style Sheet.
  3. Peel and stick your image onto the pendant. Since the images on the style sheet are rectangular, they fit perfectly into the rectangle pendants. To get the oval shape, simply center an oval glass cover over your image, trace around the oval, cut it out using the inside trace lines as a guide, then peel and stick to your pendant. Push it down around the edges if you find it overlapping just a bit.
  4. Apply a small drop of Liquid Glass glue to the center of your image.
  5. Place a glass cover (rectangle or oval, depending on your pendant) into your pendant and push down to spread the Liquid Glass glue around the image. If the glue seeps out from under the glass, wipe it off immediately. The pendant is now complete. Wait a good 12-24 hours before handling the pendant, so that the glue is completely dry.
  6. Add a key chain ring to your pendant and voila… a brand new key chain! Or if you prefer, add an actual chain and make it a necklace.

Here is a closer look at the rectangular key chains (excuse the glare, it was impossible to avoid this with the glass on top)…

And the oval key chains…

Here they are packaged up and ready to be transported…

CTMH Base and Bling Key Chains

I packaged them very simply so that the image really stood out. All of the patterned paper headers were from retired paper packets that I had in stock.

There are many more projects to come… stay tuned!

CTMH ShinHan Markers Blog Hop

ShinHan Markers Blog Hop

Welcome to the CTMH Independent Consultant’s ShinHan Marker Blog Hop! If you have just joined me from Priscilla Gotham’s blog, then you are on the right track!

Great Job 3a.JPG

My card for this hop uses the “Great Job” stamp set, Topiary, Goldrush, and White Daisy cardstock, and of course, the ShinHan markers! ShinHan markers are alcohol-based markers that color and blend easily. Although they are new to Close To My Heart this year, they have been around for a long time and have a reputation as being right up there with Copic markers, in terms of quality.

Great Job 1a.JPG

For this 7″ x 5″ card, I stamped the large shooting star image in the center of my White Daisy cardstock. The 2 smaller sets of shooting stars and the “Great Job” banner were stamped on scrap paper, fussy cut, and then adhered to the card with foam tape for a bit of dimension.

The ShinHan Markers used to color these images included: Turquoise Blue, Peacock Green, Vivid Green, and Marigold.

Great Job 2a.JPG

To give the card some sparkle and shine, I finished it off with some Clear Sparkles in various sizes, and some tiny Bitty Sparkles in the shooting star curls.

Make sure to keep the fun and inspiration going by hopping on over to Dana Kessler’s blog, to see what she has created for you! If you get lost along the way, or would like a list of all participating bloggers, you can find that here.

October Stamp Of The Month Blog Hop

CTMH Consultant’s October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

pic 2

Thank you for joining me today for the Close To My Heart Consultant’s Blog Hop, featuring the October Stamp of the Month (SOTM), “Home for the Holidays.” If you have come here from Regina Kettering’s blog, then welcome!

The October Stamp of the Month set is a Holiday/Christmas-themed set. Can you believe that the holiday season is almost here? Have you started your Christmas card making yet? If not, this stamp set would be a great addition to your holiday sets! However, it is only available from October 1- 31, 2014, so make sure to get it now, well before the holiday season.

oct 1

Here is the card that I made with the October SOTM. I used a White Daisy card base for this 5″ x 5″ card, and patterned papers from the Snowhaven Paper Packet. CTMH has 2 gorgeous Holiday themed paper packets this year… Yuletide Carol is specifically Christmas-oriented, and Snowhaven is very generic and could be used for much more than just winter-themed projects.

oct 4

I focused on a candy theme, with candy canes and Christmas mints throughout the card, and the sentiment “Dreaming, Believing, Wishing.”

oct 2

After layering the patterned papers, I added a strip of Black Shimmer Trim along the bottom portion of the card for some shine. The 3 mints and the top candy cane were popped off of the card slightly with some Thin Foam Tape.

oct 3

To finish off the card, I added Clear Sparkles and Bitty Sparkles throughout the card, and even dotted each “i” with a cute, little Bitty Sparkle!

Team Blog Hop: Embossing Folders

Glitter Girl 1a.JPG

Today is an exciting day at my blog, as I am participating in our first ever Team Blog Hop! If you have come here from Roz Bianchi’s Blog, then you are on the right track!

This hop features Close To My Heart’s line of Embossing Folders. You’ve probably seen me using embossing folders quite a bit in my projects to add some texture, dimension, and visual interest. Since my favorite CTMH Embossing Folder is “Quatrefoil,” I am going to be sharing a card that I made with the Quatrefoil folder. To see cards made with our other folders, make sure to continue “hopping” after this post.

Glitter Girl 3a.JPG

This 4.25″ x 5.5″ card was made with a White Daisy cardstock base, and then layered with Black cardstock and Green Glitter paper.  The white paper in the background and green glitter paper in the foreground were both run through my Cuttlebug machine with the CTMH Quatrefoil Embossing Folder. I love the look of having the 2 layers of embossing!

Glitter Girl 4a.JPG

Once my papers were embossed, I simply glued all of the layers together, stacking one on top of the next. The pink strip and heart were cut from self-adhesive Pink Shimmer Trim. I cut the pink strip on an angle and adhered to the green glitter paper, and then cut the small heart with a tiny paper punch and adhered to the bottom of the card.

Glitter Girl 5a.JPG

I used the “Glitter Glam” stamp set to stamp the sentiment “Glitter Girl” with Pear ink. I fussy cut around the sentiment, curled up both of the wings a bit for a “flying” effect, and then attached with foam tape to really pop it off the page! While the entire card sparkles with glitter, I still couldn’t resist some extra bling… Bitty Sparkles! I added 3 sparkles to the embossed background and 2 to the sentiment to dot the “i”‘s.

Since I initially made 2 projects for this Blog Hop, I’ll have another Quatrefoil embossed card to show you next week. Be sure to join me for that later in the week, or feel free to drop by every day for my DAILY blog post!

Keep on Hoppin’…
