Halloween Treats

CTMH Halloween Nugget Treats

Earlier this week, I shared one of the projects that I am making for an upcoming craft fair. You can view the Halloween Nugget Tins here. Sticking with the Halloween theme this month, here is a similar, yet smaller project for Hershey’s Nuggets. These Halloween Treat bags contain 4 decorated nuggets per package.

Using papers from the retired “Hooligans” paper packet, each nugget was decorated with a 1″ x 3″ strip of patterned paper. Each pack was attached to Black cardstock, with an Autumn Terracotta header.

The adorable stamped images were from the current Frightfully Fun stamp set, stamped in Black and Autumn Terracotta inks. The star was stamped in Black ink from the Great Job stamp set.

These papers were from the retired “Spooktacular” paper packet. The header images were also stamped with the Frightfully Fun stamp set, using Black, New England Ivy, Autumn Terracotta, and Gypsy inks.

All nugget packages were attached with metallic green mini staples. These could also be hidden under the header of the package (staple first, and then attach your header on top), but I like them as a design element and preferred to have them seen.

Thanks for joining me today!

Halloween Nugget Tins

CTMH Halloween Nugget Tins

I love this time of the year… craft fair season! Fall Festivals, Holiday Boutiques, Santa’s Workshops, I love them all. I have been crazy busy making projects for my first Fall Festival of the season. Since it’s a fall theme, but held before Halloween, I’m featuring a few Halloween items, a ton of fall projects, and a few general projects for those that don’t want any themed merchandise.

I’ll share some of my projects on the blog over the coming weeks. Today, I want to feature these Halloween Nugget Tins. This certainly wasn’t my original idea, but I tweaked other projects I’ve seen to fit what I wanted.

CTMH Halloween Nugget Tins

Since this is for a craft fair, I like to use up retired Close To My Heart papers and supplies that I have on hand. The papers that I used to cover the nuggets in the picture above was from a pack called “Spooktacular.” Each tin holds 12 decorated Hershey’s Nuggets.

The cardstock that I used to wrap around the tin was Hydrangea and also some black patterned paper with tiny strings and stars. I also added a spider web ribbon that I had left over from the Dollar Store.

The nuggets in this tin were wrapped with paper from the “Hooligans” paper packet. I used the same cardstock and ribbon to finish it off.

What I really had fun with was the cute bat tags! I used my Cricut machine and a bat image from a cartridge called, “Paper Doll Dress Up.” I also cut out the 1.5″ white circles with the Cricut, to save me from punching all of those shapes out individually.

The sentiment “Sweet Treats” was stamped in Sorbet Ink, using the Sweet Salutations stamp set. Sweet Salutations is an awesome set to use for gift tags, particularly when you are giving candy, cookies, or other treats as gifts.

After I stamped the sentiment onto the circles. I glued them to the bat image, making sure that the bat ears were peaking out from the top, and then punched a small hole in the top of each one. I used retired Hydrangea Waxy Flax to thread around the tins, through the holes, and tied a small bow. Cute!

Amazing Marker Techniques!

CTMH ShinHan Touch Twin Markers

The Close To My Heart ShinHan Touch Twin Markers are such a pleasure to work with! They are high quality alcohol markers (right on par with brands like Copic), and feature a dual tip, thin and broad, ends.

Currently CTMH has 24 colors of markers, but more than 40 colors of paper. So how do you get your markers to match all that paper? Well, the artsy folks at CTMH played around with color combos and came up with very close matches.

Okay, so where is the AMAZING marker techniques part that I promised? It’s in the video below. If you are a seasoned colorist, some of these tips may not surprise you, but for most of us, we’ll learn something new 🙂
